Julie Koehler
35 | Director, Beaver Brook Children’s School

Career Highlights: The career highlight I’m most proud of is starting a non-profit organization in a rural area that seeks to support families with young children.
Community Involvement: My community involvement includes providing education and activities for children, youth, and families through nature-based and place-based programs and events.
What motivated you to live and work in Vermont: I was motivated to live and work in Vermont because I grew up nearby in upstate New York and always loved the mountains. The beauty and community in Vermont are truely unique.
Favorite part of your job: My favorite part of my job is mentoring, coaching, and training other professionals in my field.
Most inspiring mentor and why: My most inspiring mentor is the land. The natural environments where I grew up and now live have provide deep inspiration for my overall leadership style.
Favorite Vermont escape: It is hard to pick my most favorite Vermont escape, but some of my favorite wild places are Green River Reservoir, the Moosalamoo Recreation Area, and the Groton State Forest.
